Welcome!
At Chifido, I strive to produce quality, healthy, happy
dogs with excellent temperament and type.
I was first introduced to the breed some eight years or
so ago by my then partner. He had fallen for this breed some ten
years earlier when a friend of his bought one. Years later he
realised his dream and he bought our first Shar Pei Oliver. I was
immediately bewitched and took these wonderful dogs to my heart.
Although not bought as a show dog, Oliver gave me a taste for the show
ring and eight months later, I bought Molly, my first show dog.
Pepper, a once in a lifetime dog, followed shortly after giving me the
foundation that is today, Chifido Shar Pei.
Time moves on and things inevitably change. Sadly,
in April 2006, my best friend and confidant Pepper Anne was
taken from me. She has left a massive hole in my life and an even
bigger ache in my heart. Broken hearted, I thought I'd never
have another black horsecoat again. And if it hadn't been for
Ripley, I probably wouldn't.
Ripley is
Pepper's niece and something tells me we were just meant to find each
other. You'll meet Ripley in our pages but she deserves a
special mention up front. Ripley is not a show dog, she'll never
take to the show ring and strut her stuff like the others, she'll never
win top honours. Ripley is purely and simply my much loved, much
spoilt, pet.
Let me explain, Ripley isn't disabled, she's
differently-abled. Her front legs are crooked and bent and often
don't do what she wants them to. But don't let that fool you! She is a little minx who keeps her
aunt alive with her actions and deeds and if you ever met Pepper, you
know exactly what I mean.
All of my dogs are also my much loved pets. Two of
them are just that, and came to us at Chifido by chance. Ripley
and Pheobe are the two that will never be shown beyond companion shows
and never be bred, Pheobe is my partners Shar Pei and happy not to
venture into the limelight or onto a web page.
I am still proud to be owned by three generations of
eight Shar Pei, each with their own unique personality. I have and
have had both horsecoats and brushcoats and still cannot imagine life
without this amazing breed.
And I'm still learning. Just when you think you've
seen it all....... this lot throws something new at you!
All my dogs live as part of my family as you'll see if
you visit our new photo gallery. Thanks for stopping by.
